TOWNSEND — Police Chief James Sartell reports that Townsend Police responded to an armed robbery on Main Street on Wednesday night.

Police received a call at 6:52 p.m. about a robbery at the Townsend Package Store, 224 Main St. The store employee told police that the robber showed a knife. The robber and an accomplice fled on foot behind the store, the employee said.

The assailant was a white male in his early 20s with a thin build. He was wearing a black hoodie, black T-shirt, black jogging pants with white lettering, black and white sneakers, and a red fabric facemask.
