Chief James Sartell and the Townsend Police Department would like to recognize the 27-year career of Lt. Mark Giancotti as his retirement approaches. 

Hired on Aug. 8, 1995 as a patrol officer, Giancotti was promoted to sergeant in 2002, and to lieutenant in 2015. Lt. Giancotti will retire officially on Oct. 14.

Lt. Giancotti holds a Bachelors Degree from the University of Berkley, a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from Curry College and he continuously worked to further his education. Lt. Giancotti also attended the 104th FBI-LEEDA Command Institute for Law Enforcement Executives in 2014 as well as the FBI-LEEDA 143rd Supervisor Leadership Institute for Law Enforcement Executives in 2015.

“Lt. Giancotti is a dedicated, community-minded commander who spent his career working to make Townsend a better place,” said Chief Sartell. “I thank him for his service to our community, and wish him well in his retirement.”
